HireKarma is a centralized recruitment platform that connects students, universities, and employers through job fairs and campus drives. As part of the “BPUT O JOBZ” initiative, HireKarma aimed to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and trust of the recruitment process by integrating secure, verifiable credentials into its platform.

The Challenge:

Campus recruitment events involve high volumes of student profiles and job applications, making verification a time-consuming and error-prone process. Corporate interviewers and nodal officers often rely on manual document checks, which can slow down interviews and increase the risk of forged or incomplete information. HireKarma needed a scalable, secure solution to verify candidate credentials instantly—reducing administrative effort while increasing trust for all stakeholders.

Solution: Secure, Shareable Verifiable Credentials

HireKarma partnered with Ooru Digital’s CredIssuer to integrate verifiable digital credentials directly into its recruitment workflow. Two credential types were implemented:

  • Student Profile VC: Students upload their 10th, 12th, and resume certifications to the HireKarma platform. CredIssuer generates secure, shareable VC URLs containing verified details, which are sent to corporate interviewers for instant, trust-based pre-screening.

 

  • Job Application VC: Shortlisted students receive a QR code containing job application details via email. At campus drives, nodal officers scan the code for fast, reliable verification.
How It Worked:
  • Students uploaded academic and resume documents to the HireKarma platform.

 

  • HireKarma invoked CredIssuer to generate a secure VC URL for student profiles.

 

  • VC URLs were embedded in interviewer spreadsheets for direct, verifiable access.

 

  • When students were shortlisted for a role, HireKarma invoked CredIssuer to generate a QR code containing job application details.

 

  • QR codes were sent to students via email and scanned by nodal officers at the job fair for on-the-spot verification.
